Which should you use, persistence or persistent? The noun persistence means the fact of continuing in an opinion or course of action despite difficulty or opposition. The adjective persistent means lasting for a long time or difficult to get rid of.

Correct: He was very persistent.
Incorrect: There was persistent in her voice.
Correct: There was persistence in her voice.
